SERVICE
Those black streaks on your roof aren't dirt — they're algae. WAHOO! Roof Washing uses a gentle, low-pressure soft wash specifically designed to remove algae and lichen without damaging shingles, unlike high-pressure roof cleaning.
THE WAHOO! PROCESS
PROTECT — Gutters, landscaping, and siding below the roofline are shielded first.
WASH — A soft wash application breaks down algae and black streaking without stripping granules.
DETAIL — Valleys, edges, and vent areas get close attention where buildup collects most.
MOLDBLOCK™ — MoldBlock™ Technology slows regrowth at the root, so those black streaks take longer to come back.
THE SCIENCE
Those streaks aren't dirt, soot, or mold — they're gloeocapsa magma, an airborne algae that thrives in warm, humid climates like ours and spreads from roof to roof carried by wind, rain, and birds. As it grows, it forms a dark, UV-protective coating, which is why it shows up as black streaking rather than green.
Left alone, it doesn't just look bad — it can degrade shingle granules over time and cause your roof to absorb more heat than it should. Because it thrives on moisture, it shows up first and worst on shaded, north-facing slopes and anywhere pine debris collects in the valleys.
WHY SOFT WASH
Most major shingle manufacturers are explicit about this — and it's the reason soft washing is the industry-standard method for asphalt shingle roofs.
High-pressure water can blast the protective granules right off asphalt shingles, exposing the layer underneath and shortening the life of your roof.
Shingle manufacturers commonly instruct against power washing roofs entirely — doing so can void the manufacturer's warranty on the shingles.
A low-pressure application with an algaecide solution kills gloeocapsa magma at the root and rinses clean — no pressure needed to get the black streaks gone.
